The Border Operating Model is the phased approach the British Government uses to implement border controls between the European Union and the United Kingdom now that the UK has left the EU. The first phase went live on January 1st, 2021. The second phase was postponed already before but has now been further delayed again.

Since Brexit started, there has been no change in how companies in the European Union should handle importing goods from the United Kingdom. The European Union opted for complete border control from the immediate start of Brexit. The British Government chose a phased approach for companies exporting from the United Kingdom or importing into the United Kingdom.
Brexit Update - Deadline Passed, But Negotiations Still Going
This Sunday was supposed to be the last day of negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom about the Brexit Trade Agreement. While the negotiators didn’t come to a deal, they also didn’t come to an end of the negotiations.
