Rotterdam is the home of the Gateway to Europe and the largest port in Europe: The Port of Rotterdam. The total surface area of the port is more than 12,600 hectares. It is the biggest Port outside of Asia and a top ten Container port worldwide.

Today is National Customs Day in the Netherlands. What better day than to take a look at the history of Customs in the Netherlands. This year the Dutch Customs Authority celebrates its 425-year existence. 

In our series #WeAreCustomsSupport, you will meet the people behind Customs Support. We value our colleagues and the work they do. In this series, we will interview the people who are always ready to assist you with importing or exporting your goods without worries. Next up in this series is Huib van Heumen.

Inward processing refers to importing goods into the EU, processing these, and hereafter exporting these out of the EU. One common inward processing example is when a product is imported for repair or maintenance and is later exported to be returned to its owner.

Per January 1st 2021 there will be two types of EORI numbers. An EU EORI number and a UK EORI number.
